FAQ

How does it work?

The Olive You Cat Toy is made from imported Italian Olive Wood. The molecule in the wood is the same as catnip! The toy will ship to you, ready to go. The general size and shape are reminiscent of natural prey to enhance the kitty buzz and excitement. Has it lost it's punch? Give it a little sand with some high grit sand paper, and, poof, good as new!

Is it safe?

The wood is all natural and untreated ("fruit" woods tend to be very safe; one reason we use them for smoking other foods). The natural jute string is also steeped in organic catnip tea to enhance the experience.

The Olive wood has a fairly high oil content which helps to keep the wood from cracking or splitting. It also reduces any likelihood of splinters. If your cat is going to bite wood... This is the wood to bite.

The last thing we want to do is hurt any fluffs. The specific size is too large to be swallowed, but small enough to play with. If it gets flung into the air, it is light enough to not dent anything or cause a concussion. The sanded edges make for a comfortable lick and bite process as well.

How is there a "better" version of the same size?

The "better" version is highly figured and/or burl wood. This is better in two ways: The funky grain patterns hold more of the natural oils, which is where the kitty magic sauce is. It also is stunningly beautiful wood (We use it for all sorts of beautiful art projects). When your fluff gets a few licks in, check out the patterning on the wet wood!

Does it really last forever?

Absolutes are for Siths. Not literally, but it would be very challenging. The toy will only get smaller as you sand to refresh it. And sanding takes off such a small amount. Our cats will still find our original prototypes from years ago around the house and play with them.

How much do I sand, and with what?

It doesn't take much. Something around 220 grit sand paper will take off enough to get the oils from the next layer, but not change its size. Other grits will work fine as well. If you have a rasp, file, emery board, those all work. You don't need to sand the whole thing, maybe just one face of it. You'll be able to see the difference in potency after your cat gets a hold of it again.

Can I also order a new cat?

Sorry, using ours.

What if my cat doesn't like it?

If your cat doesn't respond to regular catnip, they probably won't respond to Olive You. If you find this out after ordering, feel free to return it for a full refund. BUT! You may also have cat friends that respond well, and who would appreciate the gift!

My cat lost interest... what do?

Sand it! (See above) or get a new cat...?

What if the toy breaks into two pieces?

You now have two toys and must pay us for the new one you now have. :-P
